Common & Unexpected Tyre Damage And Proven Solutions
When a vehicle is in motion, tires are the only component in contact with the ground, encountering numerous unexpected situations and various types of accidental damage.
Tire Uneven Wear Issues
Tyre Eating
Misalignment of the vehicle’s toe angle can cause irregular wear on the tread, commonly known as “tire eating.” This typically occurs in the front wheels. The solution is to measure and adjust the vehicle’s toe alignment.
Irregular tread wear caused by tire pressure issues
Low tire pressure leads to faster wear on both sides of the tire.
High tire pressure causes faster wear in the center of the tread. The solution is to adjust the tire pressure to the specified and appropriate level.
Tire Bead Issues
Wire Pulling and Scorching
Tire bead damage caused by braking system issues, such as wire pulling and scorching.
Solution:
Regularly inspect and replace the vehicle’s brake pads.
For long-distance transportation with frequent downhill sections, install a water tank spraying system to cool the vehicle’s braking system promptly.
Neglecting or delaying inspections may result in tire fires, leading to more significant economic losses.
Brake system-induced bead scorching
Fire caused by neglecting or delaying brake system inspections
Bead wear caused by low tire pressure and rim shrinkage (commonly occurring in tubeless tires).
Solution:
Regularly and promptly check if the tire pressure meets the specified standard.
When installing a new tire, ensure the rim meets the standard. For example, a 7*16 rim with a width of 9.0 should have a diameter of 59.5–61 cm. Rims with a diameter below 58 cm are not recommended for use.
